Reviewing The Grand Mac: Is It As Great As It Sounds?

Although I like the classic bread and meat meals served with fries whenever I satisfy my cravings for fast food but sometimes I’m tempted to do something different or something new, something exciting and something I could consume with a spoon.

It’s true the majority of you would rather not consume fast food using spoons unless it’s a delicious, cold, and creamy Ice cream with Oreos and caramel topping sprinkled in… It’s possible to go on and on. The KFC’s Famous Bowl is different and delicious, so I’ll show you why it is a must to add it to the list of your top KFC Menu items.

Reviewing The Grand Mac

History of the Famous Bowl

In spite of its title, KFC wasn’t included in the original KFC menu. It was added to the menu around the 90sand was a surprise to see it remain on the constantly changing KFC menu. It’s remained mostly the same throughout for the duration and is exactly as delicious today like it was back during the 1990s.

The Inspiration

The entire menu of what is known as the Famous Bowl has been an element of the KFC menu for years But now, they’ve been put together into something delicious. They refer to it as a classic, even though it’s not included in the original menu. It is made from creamy potato mash, delicious crispy chicken bites fried, coated with corn that is firm and topped with delicious homemade gravy and cheese, mozzarella as well as Monterey Jack cheese.

Two Types

Recently, KFC has launched the Spicy Famous Bowl that is almost identical to the original version, but with their distinctive Nashville hot sauce drizzled over it. It’s a great option for all the lovers of spice who are out there!

KFC Famous Bowl Review

Taste and Texture

The Famous Bowl has a great combination of texture and tastes It’s all due to the perfect choice of layering. All the ingredients are perfect. KFC’s mashed potatoes are fantastic because they’re super!

smooth and not too spongy to give a fantastic mouthfeel.

The brown gravy that is required adds the necessary flavor and fat to bring the mash up to the next level. The corn is easy to prepare, but it is cooked to perfection and gives you a pleasant taste when you chew it. The chicken fried in the frying pan is bone-free and crisp, which provides an essential flavor to the creamy and smooth mash beneath. The chicken is well spiced but not too much that it doesn’t affect the flavor of the dish.

The three-cheese mix is the perfect topping that adds that extra little bit of smoothness and fat. It’s all perfect since it’s the sum of all the elements that make KFC excellent.

If you’re in need of a little more spice to the savory flavor of your meal it is recommended to go for the hot sauce. The addition of Nashville hot sauce is an excellent choice that is not limited to those who like hot sauce.

Is It Healthy?

But it’s not. The bowl is the calories of 720 consisting of 23g of protein, 79% of the carbohydrates (of 3g of which are sugars), and 34g of fat along with 6g of fiber.

In terms of fat content there are 7g of saturated fat, and zero grams in trans fat. This is the sole positive aspect since there is as well 45mg of cholesterol and 2370mg of sodium. it is clear this could be a problem for some.

Is It Worth It?

The cost for the entire bowl comes to just $3 (assuming you’re not in one of the cities where everything costs more) for a pound of food. It’s completely worthy in my opinion because there aren’t many fast food establishments offering this much food at the price at such a low cost, and tasting delicious as well.

Final Verdict

The KFC Famous Bowl offers a well-balanced combination of carbs, proteins, and fats. The ingredients come from the finest ingredients in KFC’s menu of food items. The layers of ingredients create the texture and flavor that makes you want to try more. The price is reasonable for what you get.

The only drawback could be that this food isn’t very healthy and who visits an eatery that serves fast food to be fit? I suggest you go out and have a go and you may be surprised to find out how great it really is.

KFC’s Famous Bowl Nutrition

It’s not that anyone part of this burger was bad, just that proportions felt out of whack. And, yeah, you could ask for extra – but my personal belief is that if I need to modify something, it loses a star. I feel like that’s only fair.

Healthy 2/5

Nope. And if you’re anywhere near a diet – unless it’s keto – the Grand Mac isn’t gonna vibe.

It comes in at 860 calories, 470 of those are from fat. It has, on the upside, 41 grams of protein, which is about 82% of your daily value. So, score, I guess? And with the bun, it comes in at 62 grams of carbs, or roughly 21%. Without the bun, it’s only 8 grams of carbs.

Additionally, it does contain eggs, wheat, soy, sesame, and milk if you have food allergies. It may or may not encounter other allergens like tree nuts, fish, and shellfish – so it’s still worth checking with staff and erring on the side of caution if those are an issue for you.

Value 4/5

The Grand Mac costs somewhere in the range of $5.50, depending on where you are. The Big Mac (as a point of reference) costs about $5. Is it worth the extra 50 or so cents?

I’m torn. If you’re hungry and you know a Big Mac isn’t going to be enough, yeah, it’s totally worth the extra quarters. If you’re curious, I’d also say why not try it? But for the average person who wants a decent burger? I’d stick with the Big Mac.

Final Verdict

I like it but as a friend.

Again, it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t what I wanted it to be – for the bigger, better version of the Big Mac, or as a burger itself. But I do see the promise that it has. With extra toppings, thicker patties, bacon, and – of course – extra sauce, I think it would’ve gotten a much higher rating. The extra sauce is important.
