When a dollar menu changes, world peace is interrupted, families are left hungry, and loyalties are lost, leaving people to mourn over a once ridiculously cheap dinner. Wendy’s has since overhauled its dollar menu, rebirthing it as the Right Price Right Size menu — as if a catchy title is enough to ease our pain after the death of the $.99 Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger.
While a handful of $.99 items lived on after the new menu was launched, you’ll notice some of your favorites tagged with a higher cost, and only you can decide if it is truly the right price and the right size.
Jr. Cheeseburger – $0.99
You can’t expect a value burger to rock your world, but the Jr. Cheeseburger does the trick if you’re hungry and budget conscious. No surprises here – this Wendy’s burger is topped off with pickles, onions, and cheese.
Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe – $0.99
Upping the price of the Deluxe may have been a marketing ploy to make the Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe seem, well, deluxe. In reality, the only difference between this burger and the regular Jr. Cheeseburger is tomato, mayo, and a slightly higher percentage of beef.
4/6 Pc. Chicken Nuggets – $0.99/$1.79
We nearly keeled over when we heard Wendy’s discontinued the spicy chicken nuggets. While the regular chicken nuggets are still a solid choice on the “dollar menu,” they’ll always live in the shadow of their once beloved spicy forefathers.
Crispy Chicken Sandwich – $0.99
The chicken sandwich industry is fiercely competitive. Every fast food joint tries to one-up the other, but have any of them gotten it quite right, yet? Wendy’s is a reliable choice for a crispy chicken sandwich, typically serving a fresh chicken patty without completely smothering it in mayo (we’re looking at you, McDonald’s).
Value Size Natural-Cut Fries – $0.99
Whether these fries have anything natural about them or not, they definitely stand out from their competitors. They may not be the best in the industry, but you can’t dip any other restaurants’ fries in a frosty… That would just be wrong.
Value Size Soft Drink – $0.99
Wendy’s carries the classic assortment of Coca-Cola products. We know that’s really all you were wondering.
Small Frosty – $0.99
The frosty carries the Wendy’s franchise on its shoulders – serving as a signature treat since 1969. Whether you order it as a replacement beverage or a dessert, the frosty in all its glory is unbeatable.
Caesar or Garden Side Salad – $1.49
When up against a cheeseburger and fries, a salad doesn’t seem like something that belongs on a value menu. It’s a nice change of pace and promotes healthy alternatives if
you get tired of the typical grease-soaked fast food.
Chicken Go-Wrap (Spicy, Crispy, or Grilled) – $1.79
Wendy’s version of a snack wrap is another healthy option on the Right Price Right Size menu, offering a chicken breast, lettuce, cheese, and honey mustard wrapped in a flour tortilla.
Chili (Small) — $2.09
If the ingredients are fresh, Wendy’s chili has the potential to be top-notch, but more often than not, this value meal is a hit or miss. However, for a couple bucks, it stacks up against competition and serves as a decent comfort food.
Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap – $1.59
You can throw any sandwich or salad into a wrap and hope for the best. But, breaded chicken and Caesar dressing will always be an award-winning combo in our book.
Double Stack – $2.09
Meet the Double Stack, the burger Wendy’s claims to have “two fresh, never-frozen beef patties.” And while the name talks a big game, this double cheeseburger is actually quite small. The taste is up to our standards, but if Wendy’s keeps downsizing its burgers, there won’t be any beef left.
Junior Bacon Cheeseburger – $1.99
We saved the very best for last. It was a risky move tacking an additional dollar onto the price of the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, but fans pulled through for the treasured JBC. If you ask us, a measly $1.99 is quite the steal for one of the world’s greatest fast food burgers.
From the dollar menu to the Right Price, Right Size menu, Wendy’s has put its loyal fanbase through an emotional roller coaster. Even so, we still have faith in the franchise to stop downsizing its burgers, continue offering dollar deals, and never change the recipe of the famous Frosty.
What’s your preferred Right Price, Right Size menu item? If your favorite Wendy’s food isn’t on here, that must mean it’s over a dollar or two. Our deepest condolences.
