A restaurant named after a famous song is likely to be a hit. This is the case for Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville chain of casual dining restaurants located in the United States.
Jimmy Buffet’s 1977 album, “Changes in Latitudes and Changes in Attitudes”, included “Margaritaville”. It was about a drink that Buffet enjoyed at Lung’s Cocina del Sur, Austin, Texas. This drink reminded him of the relaxed lifestyle of the tropics. It became his signature song and was used in all his business ventures.
What They’re Famous For
This chain is well-known for its live entertainment every night, delicious food, and its tiki bar. It also has Buffett-inspired accent decorations (e.g. giant blenders). People who desire to live the laidback lifestyle described by the song are attracted to the casual and cool atmosphere of the restaurants.
Margaritaville’s history begins with two men who shared a mutual love for music and the tropical climates of the Caribbean. Jimmy Buffet is a music legend who has used his fame and the earworm appeal of his music to create a multifaceted empire that includes “Cheeseburger In Paradise” as well as Margaritaville.
Margaritaville started off badly. His first location in Alabama failed and he had to start one in Key West, Florida. He soon found out that Outback Steakhouse was interested in partnering with him, and signed paperwork that would lead directly to the establishment of Margaritaville Cafe.
You can find Margaritaville’s in all 50 states, the Bahamas, and on cruise ships. They all serve amazing food and have a Caribbean flair.
What food is Margaritaville known for?
You can’t go wrong when you have Margaritaville’s sweet and creamy Key Lime Pie. We love Grandma’s cookies. But, her desserts from the mainland can’t match them here. Still don’t believe us?
Is Margaritaville owned by Jimmy Buffett?
Named after Buffett’s hit song, “Margaritaville”, the brand is owned by Margaritaville Holdings LLC (a subsidiary to Cheeseburger Holding Company LLC).
Who owns the rights to Margaritaville?
Margaritaville Holdings LLC owns and operates the restaurant. At first, there were only three restaurants in Key West and Jamaica. John Cohlan (then CEO of Margaritaville Holdings) saw something far greater.
 Who owns the Margaritaville franchise?
Darby Camp, the owner, and developer of the hotel remembered the lessons he had learned during the Great Recession a decade ago. Campbell did not hesitate this time: He closed down his $70million hotel, which he had opened just five months ago, one block away from Music City Center.
 How many states have Margaritaville?
There are currently 12 Margaritaville Resorts in the world. These include one in Pigeon Forge (Tenn.), Gatlinburg (Tenn.), Bossier City (La.), and Guanacaste (Costa Rica). New York City is currently in the process of opening a Margaritaville Resort. In 2019, a Margaritaville Hotel was opened in Nashville, Tenn.
