Jimmy John’s masters the art of simplicity. The sandwich franchise has a relatively small menu with limited ingredients – one cheese (provolone) and a couple of condiments (mayo, dijon mustard, ranch). And while few things beat a Turkey Tom after a long hard day, sometimes it’s nice to have other options. Enter the Jimmy John’s Secret Menu, a short – but mighty – list of menu items that makes ordering from Jimmy John’s a bit more interesting. We mean, who doesn’t want to look a stranger wearing an apron and tell them you’d like a Dubbuhgutbustuh?

Jimmy John’s Secret Menu Items in 2020
There’s nothing inherently “slim” about the Slim BLT because its main ingredients are bread and bacon bits. However, the premise is that it’s a BLT sandwich, without lettuce and tomato, of course. Instead, it contains tons of bacon, which is never something to complain about.
If the bread and bacon combo doesn’t sound appetizing to you, perhaps you’d like Jimmy John’s Secret Menu breakfast sub, released by the company via Twitter. A customer Tweeted, “I wish Jimmy John’s made breakfast sandwiches. #feedme” And Jimmy John’s official account responded, “I have a secret menu item that is perfect for a late breakfast snack, a Slim Bacon with cheese, but don’t tell ’em I told ya!”
You can get yellow mustard on your Jimmy John’s sub upon request. It may not be a part of the regular menu, but they carry packets of it and will usually add it to your sandwich for you. If they won’t spread the mustard for you, leave a bad review on Yelp. Just kidding! It takes ten seconds to DIY.
If Noah’s Ark sounds intimidating, that’s because it is. This Secret Menu item takes the regular menu’s largest sub, the Gargantuan, and doubles the meat. For reference, the Gargantuan contains salami, capicola, turkey, roast beef, ham, provolone, onion, lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil and vinegar, and oregano-basil.
Supposedly, this is the same thing as Noah’s Ark, but some Jimmy John’s locations will actually have the Dubbuhgutstuh in their POS system for around $17. Side note: if you’re curious about what in the world this double meat order is saying, pronounce it slowly. Double gut buster. Enticing right?
The Chuck Norris is an age-old secret menu item that combines two fan-favorites – the tuna sub and bacon bits. If the worker does not know what you’re talking about when you order this item, it’s easy enough to ask for #3 (Totally Tuna) with a sprinkle of bacon bits on top. Such a bomb combo.
Most sandwich shops and fast-food restaurants in general will charge you for adding extra toppings to your meal. However, Jimmy John’s goes the extra mile and gives them to customers for free. When ordering, just ask for “extra meat,” “extra lettuce,” and so on.
It’s not necessarily a secret, but many people have no idea that Jimmy John’s cuts out the innards of the bread loaf before they stuff it with your favorite meat and cheese. If you’re a carb fiend, or simply want your sandwich to be a bit more filling, order it LBI, which stands for “leave bread in.”
Other Jimmy John’s Hacks & Tips
Since the secret menu is pretty slim, let’s dive into some of the other menu hacks you can use to spice up your Jimmy John’s order.
How much should I tip Jimmy John delivery guy?
The delivery guys and gals work their tails off to get you your food in a timely manner (they’re not called Freaky Fast for nothing!), so it is always a nice gesture to tip them. In fact, it’s the courteous thing to do in this industry. A good rule of thumb is to tip 15 to 20% of your order’s total.
What is Jimmy John’s kickin’ Ranch?
Jimmy John’s Kickin’ Ranch has only been on the menu for a couple of years. Hence the name, it’s a spicy ranch made with jalepeños, hot cherry peppers, and buttermilk. You can order it as a side to go with your sub.
What are Jimmy Johns Plain Slims?
Another item many people are not familiar with is the plain slim. Plain Slims cut down the ingredients used in each sub to only meat and/or cheese. For example, if you get a Tuna Slim, there will only be tuna on the bread – none of the other toppings that typically come on a Totally Tuna.
